Forum Rules - as of October 5, 2008

Hi there,

First of all, I do want to say that I hope that I don't need to enforce the possible consequence. I really want to make this a nice place for everyone and I also hope that I don't need to intervene often. Thank you.

This is the current set of rules – applicable for all sections of the Forum. The list will be up-dated if necessary:

Set of Rules


1. Respect Ekaterina and Sergei and their families. No messages that are critical of Ekaterina and Sergei characters.

2. Respect each other and please try to be friendly to each other. If you have a problem with someone, please use Private Message (PM).

3. Administration: "Webmaster" (= that's me, Su-jan) is the only forum administrator and if you have issues with a decision, please PM me.

4. Think before you post.

5. Constructive criticism: As long as it's constructive criticism and not targeted at personality issues, it's acceptable. Constructive criticism is defined as "process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one".

6. Take your time before hitting the "submit" button. If you're writing when you're upset or emotional, calm down before replying.

7. Be proud of your postings, but do not post just to see your name published. Remember: your future employer may be reading.

8. Do not feed the trolls: "Trolls" in Internet speech are people who post messages with the intent of provoking angry responses. Trolls like to post rude, inflammatory or offensive messages - it gives them pleasure to see the regular posters upset. Therefore, do not respond to a troll. Starve them by ignoring them and they will lose interest in posting.

9. Please try to make "I statements" (for example: I think, I believe, I have the opinion that, I find that, etc.) or statements that show it's clearly your very own opinion when you post. Try to avoid general statements. Instead of "this programme is really, really horrible and awful" better say "I just don't like this programme".

10. No negative, nagging criticism. No character assassinations.

11. No personal attacks or name calling against Ekaterina & Sergei and their families.

12. No personal attacks or name calling against other posters.

13. Personal safety: do not post any detailed information on Ekaterina (and her family) that might endanger her personal safety. For example, if you happen to know where Ekaterina lives - please do not post the exact address.

14. There's nothing wrong with "agree to disagree".

15. Flamewars will be closed.

16. Profanity: Please have in mind that we also have underage readers here.

17. Quoting: Please only quote a few lines from a message and not the entire post. Excessive quotes will be abridged to a few lines.

18. Spelling: if you write in all CAPITAL letters it's usually considered as "shouting" within the Internet community. Single words are okay, but entire sentences or paragraphs are irritating. I will change topic titles which are written in all caps into standard spelling.

19. Direct links to images: that's okay

20. Direct links to videos: that's okay

21. Selling G&G / Ekaterina stuff: that's okay

22. Spam will be deleted without warning.

23. Emoticons / smileys: The same as quotes - excessive number of smileys will be abridged to a few emoticons.

Possible consequences for breaking the rules:
- gentle reminder to look at the rules (as post or PM)
- temporary ban
- total ban
