From Moscow Times:

ICE THERAPY FOR SKATER

by the Moscow Times

NEW YORK -- More than two months after the death of her husband and skating partner, Yekaterina Gordeyeva is recovering on ice, where she and Sergei Grinkov once reigned supreme.

"Skating is something, of course, which brings me comfort, first of all because it's what I did with Sergei for 15 years,'' she told CBS in her first televised interview since Grinkov died Nov. 20, which was to be aired Wednesday.

"And of course, I don't have my partner, half of my body, with me," she said.

Grinkov, who with his wife won two Olympic gold medals, died of an apparent heart attack while practicing for a show at Lake Placid, New York.

"Nobody holds me, and it's really terrible and nobody hugs me like we always did on the ice,'' she said. "It's really difficult.''

She is preparing for a solo performance during a show in tribute to Grinkov Feb. 27, at Hartford, Connecticut.

"It brings me the memories,'' she said of skating. "It's difficult, of course, but it makes me happy.''

Still, there is reality.

"I have to wake up every morning, and you know it, that I have no Sergei with me anymore,'' Gordeyeva said.
