From Elle (Russian edition):
DANCE FOR SERGEI
by Nelly Holms
translated by Elena G. (provided by Deenie T.)
The article was written for Russians, so there were some parts from Ekaterina's book and some questions asked which people in the US probably already know. Here are the other questions:
Question: Figure skating is a very popular sport and big business with its own harsh rules. Most skaters would never leave their skates without supervision, were you and Sergei in situations where you would feel it?
Ekaterina: Of course, we would never leave our skates and drink water only out of our own bottles, but no one ever did anything bad to us. We never felt any unkindness from others. Though, generally such things happen in figure skating.
Question: There is an advertisment of the movie "Katya" on internet, is it about you?
Ekaterina: (with anger) This Internet! There's so much written! There is no movie "Katya". I just found out that one of my acquaintances answered questions which people send to me on behalf of my name. When people asked : "how are you doing Katya?" she would answer:" I am fine" and so on. I asked why she was doing it, and she said: "but you are fine, aren't you? So I am just telling how it is!" By the way, I don't have a PC at all, I just don't have time for it.
Question: Oksana Baiul bought a house near you, and what are you doing with your money?
Ekaterina: Our condo is becoming too small for all of us, we often have my parents living with us and other guests and relatives. Maybe we will buy a house soon too.
Question: Are you friends with Oksana?
Ekaterina: Yes, she is a very lonely girl. She has no one. She always had such a warm feeling towards me and Serezha and called us "grandma and grandpa". She suffered so much after that car accident - everyone jumped on her. But she didn't become worse to my family and me because of that.
Question: Do you like to dress nicely?
Ekaterina: Yes, very much and I have places where I can go out to. I like when clothes are picked according to situation. And Dasha (she calls her Dan'ka in interview) likes to get dressed for the party too.
Question: You said once (to People magazine) that to look nice you only need a bit of a lipstick, brush, and a fur. What do you think now?
Ekaterina: I didn't tell them about a fur they added it themselves. I would only add hand lotion now.
Question: Do you keep any diet?
Ekaterina: I just try not to eat fat food, but I love ice-cream.
Question: What are your favourite holidays?
Ekaterina: New Year and Easter, specially New Year. We first kissed with Serezha on New Year.
Question: What are your plans?
Ekaterina: We are doing a documentary movie "My Sergei". Also we have an offer to make a commercial for the store chain "Target" by Christmas with Dasha, me and snowman. We will skate in that commercial, right Dasha?
(four year old Dasha has daddy's blue eyes and his smile, and she always wants to be in a central of anyone's attention. She wants to give an interview too).
Question: Dasha, where do you like to live more - in Simsbury or at the dacha? (Katya was saying in the interview that in the summer they all try to spend time at the dacha near Moscow).
Daria: At the dacha (next day though she said that in Moscow they don't have her favourite candy).
Question: And whom do you want to be when you grow up?
Daria: Like Mama, (then she thought for a moment) and like Daddy.
