EXPRESSION ON ICE, Sunday show
by Anna
Even though I hate casinos, I endured the trip to the Mohegan Sun just to see Katia skate on Sunday. She was wonderful as usual. She performed two numbers, the first being the Korobushka (Russian folkdance). She looked like a little doll in a red and white folkdress. Her hair was in a a single French braid hanging down (not tucked in as we often see her). She nearly completed a triple toe loop, but stumbled a bit. She has so much presence and skates with incredible speed -- as fast as Alexei Yagudin.
Her second number -- I don't know the music or the name -- was serious, almost sad. It reminded me a bit of the piece she performed after Sergei died. She wore a light blue unitard with long sleeves (hair in a bun). The moves were very characteristic of Katia. She did her camel spins, her layback, a skid slide on her blade, plus a new move -- a sort of full body slide on the ice. I think I saw her do a double loop and a salchow, which are pretty rare for her, aren't they?
Sorry I can't be more specific. I just wanted to say she looked great.
