The show was wonderful last night!! Daria was the co-host, she did such a good job considering that she's what 11 years old. She has such a cute little personality. Her intro was interesting, they shot it several times. Throughout the night, she and Ros referred to Katya and Ilya as her parents, her Mom and Dad, and her Mom and Step-Dad. I'm not sure which word choice will end up on television, but I found that interesting.
Katya skated the Red scarf routine. Only one mistake, which she had to repeat three times at the end of the night. By that point she was not happy with herself, but the audience cheered her on, and at the third attempt she got it right.
Daria did a short program with Paul Wylie. It was very cute to see her skate pairs. I have pictures of this that I hope Su-jan will post for me. She has a great stage manner. Katya came out to watch Katie Orscher and Garrett Lucash skate, she stayed out for Daria's program as well as for Ilya. She has a smile on her face the whole time for the last two. As soon as Daria was done skating, she jumped back into the audience to watch Ilya skate.
Katya skated to "I hope you Dance". Daria and Ros did the intro, and talked about how the song was wishing the best for your children, and that's what Katya wanted for her children. It was very sweet. Her costume is beautiful!! I don't think I have any good pictures. It's a very very pale purple, so with the lights it wasn't showing up right on my camera. At the end Ilya skated out to her. Again, huge smile on her face (and his too!). It made my heart do a little flip flop when all of a sudden he appeared out there. You could see how happy she was. I found it very cute that as Katya left the ice after her program, she squeezed his hand, and when they did retakes, they repeated this as they changed places on the ice.
This is completely un-Katya related, but when you watch it on television, watch the finale closely. You'll see Oksana is hysterically smiling and laughing during the part where she and Paul skate together. They had to completely re-do the finale because Paul fell, and completely wiped out. Oksana was laughing so hard during the first take, that they weren't able to really do their part together. During the second take (the one which will be on television) she is still grinning like crazy over his fall.
At the finale, Daria comes out in a little red skating dress with white fur at the end. As they're waving to the audience she and Katya are just dancing together. I don't know if that'll make it on television, but it was really cute to see.
It was such a great show. I can't wait for it to be on television, I think everyone is going to really enjoy it!!
