STARS ON ICE (Grand Rapids, MI)
by KatieM
I was also at the Grand Rapids show. I am so jealous that I didn't have on-ice seats. I made a huge sign that said 'We you Katia'. She didn't see it after her first number, which I absolutely loved. There is something about seeing her skate in person which is so much better than watching her on TV. She is absolutely exquisite. I can't believe the flow that she has. I don't think I breathed throughout the entire performance.
Then she came out for her second number, which was also absolutely wonderful. I said to my sister that she doesn't even need to jump....she can just skate the music. She is breathtaking. So at the end of this number I held up my sign again, and this time she saw it and gave us a huge smile and wave.
At the end of the show we held up the sign again, and after she spent some time down at one end of the rink shaking hands she came right over to the section of on-ice seats directly in front of us. She smiled at us and winked and waved. We shouted that we loved her, and she gave us another big smile and wave. It was so awesome. I had to drive almost 3 hours to see her skate, but it was worth every minute!
And I just have to add that she is soooo TINY! It's unbelievable. I know it's been much talked about, but now having seen it for myself, I just can't get over how tiny she is! Must be nice.....
