STARS ON ICE (Philadelphia, PA)

by jmfunnyface

I just got back from the Philly show! :-)

It's a great show this year, I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet. As others have stated Katya was just fantastic. I agree that "Awakening" was a lot better than "Heartburn". She's looking really good this year, man is her back cut, you could see the muscles. She looks very fit. She was laughing during the flea funeral, and talking to the skaters near her during the bus number. She went out of her way to shake hands with lots of people at the end of the show. Someone gave her a pink stuffed bunny and she was wiggling it in Todd's face at the end. Very cute.

I was impressed with how unique the show was. Alexei Yagudin's number in the first act! WOW! I loved all the pairs, besides Katya they were the highlights of the show for me.

I was surprised by the music choices. LOL, how often do you get to see Russian skaters skate to "Yeah" by Usher and Lil John and hiphop music. *g* and anyone who skates to George Michael's "Faith" is terrific. I was surprised that they used Gary Jules' "Mad World" as one of their group songs. It's a really morbid song from Donnie Darko. You don't often hear "The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I ever had" at a family skating show. It's still one of my favorite songs, just surprised that they chose it.

Anyway, really great show! Those who are going to see it are in for a real treat!
