Celebration on Ice (Chilliwack, BC)

Hi all
I am still tired from last night but though you all would like to hear about last night-
Su-jan i took pictures do you want me to email them to you? a bunch are dark but a few are ok- one in particular with her and Kurt is excellent! Laurie you wil be proud!
First off.....Katia was breathtaking.....
OK now i can give you the play by play!! We arrived at the rink early because a friends daughter was in the show, and ran into brian orser but no katia so watched the canskaters and then went to eat and barely made it back in time ( bad traffic around the rink!)
They started out with these red dresses with sparkles and skated to one of those upbeat numbers that start the show ( i did not know the name) and i was too busy with katia to write anything down!!!!-
She was so full of life on the ice and so much smaller than i remembered and let me say for the other thread NOT PREGNANT in the slightest- tiny, trim and fit. She did a few split jumps and moves in the field. She comes alive on the ice for sure!
they started off with the senior canadains, marc, cynthia, anabelle and cody. soooo nice to see cynthia back on the ice, she was def heavier footed that katia but lovey to watch and a mega wat smile!
Anabelle and cody really impresssed me, they have a connection on the ice that does not come acros on TV and dare i say i saw a spark between them??????
Katia first skated to Cinquetta ( blue dress) the dress was a lovely shade of blue but i was not crazy about the design, i felt it made her look heavier than she is (which is HARD to do I am sure!) but she was such a joy to watch, so light and her wonderful line and stroking were even better up close and live. the program was enchanting and the people beside me ( who were big brian fans) said to me afterwards how much they enjoyed it.
they did three cast numbers as well , opening, closing and a clown number that was prefaced by kurt browings routine ( where he is the clown who cant skate- i dont know the name)
It was cute. Katia looked like she had fun, i got a dark but good picture of her leaning on kurt. They are obviously good friends, i could see that.
Her numbers wre flawless- all jumps landed! in the first she did a 2 axel and a 2 lutz- the second had a 2 axel and imissed the second jump ( a toe i think??????)-becasue i blinked! LOL i thnk the thing that struck the most was how quiet she skated- Being on ice we could not even hear her stroke, it was amazing.
She was so animated and she really FILLED the ice- and those eyes!! WOW
THe heartburn program was in he second half and i was not blown away by the song costume or program but it was still fabulous to se her and to enjoy her skating.
The finale began with the girls (katia wore her white dress with the flowy front , i think i have an ok picture of it) in a ballet type program that built with the other skaters coming and going, typicl ending program, lots of bows and opportunity to watch the group.
Katia came by our side but was about 10 people away from me!!! i did not even notice the skater who come to us becasue i was so busy tyring to katia's attention! LOL
there are many skaters i am forgetting, the cansakters, synchro ( that is a whole other story...) arobats, etc but i know the katia is what you all want to read!!! LOL so i will get this posted and then send su-jan the pictures!
We rushed up to the meet and greet and i had a glass of wine which helped me relax!! LOL
At the met and greet- i saw her across the room and was amazed at the aura she projected, in person she was even more lovely. I welcomed her and siad that i was excited to met her and she smiled, We took a picture and then i asked her to sign my picture, as most people were giving her the program she paused and looked at it and smiled. I said it is a bit older and she said yeah it is! I asked her if she had been able to see the city and she said not this time but that she liked being up here and the city ( i know that she has been here at least twice before- so maybe then she expored?)
I thanked her for coming to skate up here and she smiled again. My friend then was chatting with her and she told her she was glad that she was together with ILIA! ( i lauhed) and she thanked her! HE H EH E
When ran into her once more and then i was realxed enough to say a bit more, Cathy mentioned that we are skaters and she said really? I said yes, you are my insipration! When i had my son i told myslef katia was back on the ice and i will be too and went back 6 weeks later! SHe smiled and said yes that is good! cathy was telling her how we like to think that we are her on the ice, and i said well in my mind! Cathy said well execpt for our jumps and I said yes becasue that is REALLY the only difference! and Katia laughed! I said in my mind i am a fabulous skater and she said we all are!
She was very personable and easy to talk to she did look tired ( as did they all) and did not stay the whole time ( but did sit down and eat a piece of chocolate cake!) I am not disspaointed at all, in fact I think i even like her more now! LOL
A few cute moments i have a picture of her with elvis ( oops i mised him above, two older programs only two jumps but entertaining), Kurt who was fab and so funny to tak to, i asked him abot skating with the celebreties and he asked me what i thought!! I told him that i though he had a disadvantge not being a pairs skater and he siad I KNOW!!! it was ! But he liked working with debbie and said she sings the whole time. He also said that he probabloy wont do it again next season.
brian was late ( our friend and skate sharpener had just brought him a new blade!! his BROKE!) and was ok, i asked him if it was true that he was retiring and he said NO where did you hear that! I smiled and said i could not rememebr, he siad someone leaked that and I have not made up my mind yet, I said I am glad becasue i think you have a few more backflips in you yet! And especialy with your new blade ( and he looked puzzled and i said we know brad and he smiled)
Cynthia was lovely,i chated with her for a while, asked her abotu her foot ( healed nicley) told her that i was sorry to not see her at nationals and she was like Yeah it was a bummer, I said you must have been disspointed to miss the olympics hey and she said yea i was, so i said we will look forward to you at nationals next year and she thanked me. The next tie i saw her i was talked to my friend loking for brian and she said oh he isover there and pointed - so cute!
Anabelle and cody were very cute- he is such a wonderful partner ( kinda remnded me of sergei)
I also spoke with shae lynn and told her about me jumping up and down in my living roon when she won worlds and she laughed and said it was an amazing thing!
Ok i will go and post pictures now! I hope this is readable- i only had a few minutes to get it all down!!!!
